Director, Business Development (Philanthropy)
Role Overview
The Director, Business Development will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle for our philanthropy product—from prospecting and initial outreach through discovery, solution design, and closing new business.
This is a mid-level sales role ideal for someone with experience in healthcare philanthropy or healthcare services sales who can conduct prospecting, manage relationships, articulate value, and close deals within hospital foundations and advancement offices.
This role is ideal for someone who is a self starter, enjoys building scalable sales strategies, and thrives in high growth environments.
Essential Functions
Full Sales Cycle Ownership
- Prospect and qualify leads through targeted outreach and warm introductions.
- Conduct discovery calls to understand prospect needs, pain points, and decision making.
- Deliver compelling demos and presentations tailored to each prospect’s philanthropic goals.
- Develop proposals, manage contract negotiations, and drive deals to close.
Pipeline Management
- Maintain accurate forecasts, pipeline stages, and activities in tracking platforms such as HubSpot.
Industry Expertise
- Build relationships with hospital foundations, major gift officers, and philanthropy consultants; stay current on fundraising trends and challenges.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Growth leadership and the Philanthropy team to ensure smooth post-sale handoffs.
Revenue Growth
- Consistently meet or exceed sales quotas and activity metrics
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of business development and enterprise sales experience in healthcare philanthropy and/or healthcare technology/services.
- Proven success selling into accounts with complex decision-making structures
- Track record of owning the full sales cycle and closing deals with decision-makers (e.g., hospital foundation executives, major gift officers).
- Executive presence and experience engaging health system leadership, including C-suite stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, self-motivated, problem solving mentality, and comfortable in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.
- Passion for healthcare, philanthropy, and being part of an evolving organization.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
